Unlike old fashioned oyster lights, this modern LED Oyster light is all-in-one. In other words, the light source and light fitting are now combined into one unit. Once installed, it is essentially maintenance-free as there are no tubes or bulbs to replace.
Philips LED Oyster Light Size Options
The Philips SmartBirght Tri Colour LED Dimmable Oyster comes in two size options. If you're replacing an old light, measure the existing diameter first. It's generally easiest to replace an existing oyster light fitting with the same or larger diameter new light fitting. That way you can easily cover over any existing marks on the ceiling. 300mm (30cm) diameter = 15.5W
- Often suitable for use in bedrooms, hallways, corridors, or outdoors.
- Roughly speaking, the 15.5W LED oyster is equal in brightness to an old 100W incandescent light bulb.
400mm (40cm) diameter = 22W
- Suits larger rooms or where brighter lighting is required for more detailed work. For example, work areas, lounge rooms, kitchens and laundries.
- The 22W LED oyster is equivalent in brightness to an old 150W incandescent light bulb.

What dimmers does it work with?
The Philips LED Oyster light works with a wide variety of new and existing dimmer switches. We have tested it ourselves with both the MEDM and MMDM LED optimised dimmers from Diginet. Both of these dimmers performed well - even with only one 15.5W oyster light attached. See the installation manual in our specs table above for some more advice on dimmers.
